The thing that amazing about DayZ is how little structured gameplay that you need, and the thing about EVE is that we have too much structured gameplay, and it often the places where there the least structure that create the most interesting experiences.
With Microsoft putting on a strong lineup of games for the Xbox One earlier in the day, Sony needed their E3 conference to be similarly potent. The PlayStation makers had built up a lot of goodwill following the Xbox One announcement, as Microsoft focused on TV and questionable DRM policies. Sony's apparent commitment to developers and independent game making with the PlayStation 4 had them painted as the good guys.
While TESO's roles feel flexible, these dungeons definitely require a healer and a tank, or the equivalent.Upon reaching level 10, you are allowed to travel to Cyrodiil, the player vs. player (PvP) zone. You can come and go as you please, but trying to level with PvP combat exclusively is sluggish compared to questing.
"Battlefield 4's" multiplayer would have stolen the show during any other E3, but this year a titan fell to Earth. Half of Respawn's development team is made up of former Infinity Ward members, so you know "Titanfall" is poised to deliver in terms of gameplay and customization. The team is so confident in its competitive experience that there is no true single player campaign. Instead, "Titanfall" merges the blockbuster campaign feel into multiplayer, with dramatic epilogue and prologue missions, along with NPC fodder to bring war zones to life. The cat and mouse gameplay between the mechanical Titans and their lithe pilots captured the imagination of E3 showgoers, and it was easily the most talked about multiplayer game at the show.
My hands on with the first hour or two (or three, I kind of got lost in quests) with Dragon Age: Inquisition was fairly underwhelming. I've never been fond of the writing in the series and find the endless amount of mundane nouns to be grating rather than inspiring but the fact that the intro was almost play by play the intros to both Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and The Elder Scrolls Online simply compounded the sense that I've been here before and that I'll probably end up doing the same things again.
Another note for the year was old titles being rehashed at less than bargain offerings, with Grand Theft Auto V, The Last of Us Remastered, Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition, the Halo: Master Chief Collection and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag to name a few. It's guaranteed to continue in the new year, with Tim Schafer announcing at the PlayStation Experience event earlier this month that a remastered editions of Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle for the PS4 and PC in the coming years.
